Little Gems follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and focuses primarily on the three prime areas of lear ning and development. Children are assessed between the ages of 24 months and 36 months on their achievements in Personal,Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language and their Physical Development. Parents will be encouraged to share this information with other professionals, including their health visitor to inform the Healthy Child Programme review at age two, and with other settings.
The sessions are a balance of child initiated and adult led activities both indoors and outdoors.
The children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage working towards the Early Learning Goals. The curriculum is play based and encourages the children to develop through seven areas of learning and development and prepare the children for integration into Primary School. The sessions are a balance of child initiated activities and adult led activities both indoors and outdoors involving community projects and spontaneous walks exploring the environment.
Children have a choice of toast, cereal, fresh fruit, fruit juice, milk or water. We offer a walking bus at 8.30am for the children attending Pennington School. (Therefore we are unable to provide breakfast to children walking to school after 8.15am)
A walking bus collects the children from the local Primary / Junior school at 3:15pm.
Children have access to a range of art and crafts and outdoor play. (A light snack is included)
